System Chip Validation Intern
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
System Chip Validation Intern
Role Summary
Join the Chip Validation team to perform post-silicon system validation of Marvell networking SoCs. The role develops and runs automated validation suites, executes system-level tests, analyzes failures, and collaborates with Architecture, Design, Firmware, and Software teams to ensure silicon quality.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Internship). Target: 2nd/3rd-year B.Sc. or M.Sc. student with at least two years remaining before graduation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on designing and automating system-level validation for networking switch features and debugging failures across hardware and software.
- Design and implement test plans and validation suites for networking switch features.
- Develop scalable test automation frameworks and scripts (primarily Python).
- Execute validation tests, collect and analyze results, and perform root-cause analysis on system failures.
- Use traffic-generation tools (e.g., Ixia) to create realistic network workloads for validation.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Design, Pre-silicon Validation, Firmware, and Software teams to reproduce and resolve issues.
- Document test procedures, results, and debugging steps clearly and maintainably.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work habits required for successful internship performance; preferred items listed separately.
- Hands-on automation development experience, especially Python; familiarity with C++ is helpful.
- Experience or strong interest in using traffic-generation tools such as Ixia.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Self-directed, organized approach to documentation and research.
- Candidates may need export-control eligibility; non-U.S. applicants may be subject to export-license review.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with test automation frameworks and large-scale automation workflows.
- Interest or experience in AI-assisted development tools to improve test creation and debugging.
- Exposure to VLSI/chip validation, networking SoCs, or pre-silicon validation methodologies.
Education Requirements
Enrollment as a 2nd/3rd-year B.Sc. or M.Sc. student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; at least two years remaining before graduation.
