Engineering Intern - Power Analysis & Test Optimization for Next‑Generation SoCs

Role Summary

Short-term internship to support power-consumption analysis and the optimization of test procedures for next-generation System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. The intern will work with SoC validation, test, and design teams to measure, analyze and reduce power during functional tests.

Entry-level / Internship. Suitable for a student or recent graduate (internship position).

Responsibilities

The role focuses on measuring and improving SoC power behavior during tests and automating analysis workflows.

• Set up and run power measurements on SoC platforms and test benches.
• Analyze power consumption data to identify hotspots and inefficiencies.
• Develop and maintain scripts/tools to automate measurement and analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
• Propose and validate test and firmware changes to reduce test-time power and overall consumption.
• Collaborate with design, validation and test engineers to translate findings into actionable fixes.
• Document methods, results and recommendations clearly for engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for productive contribution during the internship.

• Practical experience with scripting or programming (Python recommended).
• Familiarity with digital SoC concepts, test flows, or embedded software basics.
• Hands-on experience with measurement equipment or test benches (oscilloscope, power analyzer) is helpful.
• Comfort working in Linux and using version control (Git).
• Good analytical skills and ability to present technical results concisely to engineers.
• Nice-to-have: prior exposure to power analysis tools, firmware-controlled test sequences, or semiconductor test methodologies.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in or recent completion of an engineering degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field; or equivalent practical experience in chip/embedded system testing.
