Job Title

System Architect Radar Systems

Role Summary

The System Architect Radar Systems will define, develop and deliver next-generation radar sensing solutions for automotive and robotics applications. The role spans concept, system architecture, hardware realization, embedded software, algorithm development, integration and validation within a multidisciplinary, global innovation team.

This position requires on-site presence in Eindhoven a minimum of three days per week to support lab work, vehicle testing and cross-functional collaboration.

Experience Level

Senior-level β€” typically 10+ years of relevant experience in radar systems, RF systems, ADAS sensing, or related high-performance embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and drive end-to-end radar system development, validation and demonstrations.

  • Lead system architecture, technical decision-making and trade-offs across RF front-end, antennas, signal processing, embedded software and compute.
  • Design and deliver system solutions and proof-of-concept demos that showcase radar product capabilities.
  • Define radar system requirements, performance budgets and technical specifications.
  • Develop advanced FMCW radar sensing solutions: calibration, diagnostics, interference mitigation and performance optimization.
  • Drive integration from silicon and RF subsystems to complete radar applications; coordinate lab, vehicle and customer validation activities.
  • Create test methodologies, measurement setups and automation frameworks; perform root-cause analysis on system-level issues.
  • Mentor engineers and act as technical interface to customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

Key technical must-haves and relevant skills. Candidates should meet most of the must-have items; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Must-have: 10+ years experience in radar/RF/ADAS sensing or related embedded systems; proven track record delivering complex system architectures from concept to production.
  • Must-have: Strong expertise in FMCW radar and radar signal processing; deep understanding of RF systems, antenna concepts and radar front-end architectures.
  • Must-have: Extensive experience in algorithm development, simulation, implementation and system validation.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with MATLAB and Python; experience in C and/or C++.
  • Must-have: Experience working across hardware, software and algorithm development disciplines; strong analytical and hands-on debugging skills.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with automotive 77 GHz / 79 GHz radar products, radar SoCs or transceivers, antenna matching and RF characterization.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Knowledge of ISO 26262 and automotive development processes; machine-learning-assisted sensing experience.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience implementing DSP algorithms on embedded processors, DSP cores, FPGA or hardware accelerators; low-power system architecture experience.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Background in laboratory characterization, measurement automation and custom test-tool development; demonstrated innovation via patents or publications.

Education Requirements

MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Physics, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
