Job Title

System Architect

Role Summary

Join the Advanced System Architecture Group to explore, model, and analyze memory and storage subsystem architectures for AI, server, and mobile systems. Collaborate with architects, designers, software, and engineering teams to identify system bottlenecks and drive decisions that improve power, performance, and scalability.

Primary focus: system-level modeling, simulation, and architectural evaluation to influence product direction.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience specified.

Responsibilities

Deliver system-level analysis, modeling, and cross-functional collaboration to evaluate and optimize memory and storage architectures.

  • Develop and evaluate memory and storage subsystem architectures to improve system power and performance
  • Perform system-level modeling and simulation to compare new architectural concepts against existing solutions
  • Design models for controllers, memory devices, processors, interconnects, and related system components
  • Analyze application workloads and memory/storage access patterns to identify optimization opportunities
  • Collaborate across hardware, firmware, software, and architecture teams to assess tradeoffs and drive architectural decisions

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Strong experience with computer architecture analysis, system-level design, and architectural tradeoff evaluation
  • Experience with large-scale server systems, including memory and storage subsystems
  • Proficiency in C/C++, including use of the C++ Standard Template Library (STL)
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create, validate, and interpret models and simulations

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with memory and storage controller architectures, DDR, NVDIMM, DRAM, NAND
  • Experience with agentic tools (e.g., Claude) for tooling, analysis, or code optimization
  • Knowledge of operating system memory management, firmware, and software development practices
  • Experience using Python, SystemC, or similar modeling and simulation frameworks

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required. Master's or PhD in those fields preferred.
