System and Software Optimization Engineer — Fixed Term Contract

Role Summary

Join the Performance and Competition Team to validate and optimize Intel Xeon CPU performance for data-center workloads (AI, HPC, databases, web, media). You will design, run, and analyze performance tests on pre-production hardware and cloud/virtualized/containerized environments and produce results used internally and externally.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires multiple years of professional IT experience (see Requirements).

Responsibilities

Deliver reproducible performance and competitive data, automate test environments, and communicate findings.

• Design, automate, execute, and analyze performance and benchmarking tests across cloud, containers, and virtualized platforms.
• Provision and manage test infrastructure using provisioning and IaC tools.
• Develop scripts and automation for test deployment, measurement, and result collection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, sales) and global colleagues to reproduce customer-representative workloads.
• Produce clear reports and materials for technical publications, events, and internal product development.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and contribute to platform tuning and validation efforts.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Must-have: 4+ years of IT-related professional experience and 3+ years in system configuration/administration.
• Must-have: Experience with virtualization or container solutions and provisioning tools (example: OpenStack Ironic).
• Must-have: Practical experience with scripting and automation; ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Must-have: Intermediate command of English for collaboration and reporting.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with public cloud providers and configuration management/automation tools such as Ansible.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in platform benchmarking, performance tuning, or related performance engineering.
• Nice-to-have: Analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. (Degree is listed as preferred rather than mandatory.)
