QualcommJob Title
System AI Engineer, Display (New Grad Level and up)
Role Summary
Join the Display Processing Unit (DPU) Silicon System Debug team to identify and resolve silicon- and system-level display issues across Qualcomm platforms. Work at the intersection of silicon, systems, and software to improve display reliability for customers.
Experience Level
Entry-level (New Graduate and up). The role is open to new graduates with relevant internship/co-op or PYE experience; preferred candidates may have SOC system-level debugging experience (typical: 5+ years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on silicon-level display debugging, tooling, and cross-functional problem resolution.
- Identify and isolate display issues reported by customers and internal teams at the silicon level.
- Apply industry-standard hardware/software debugging practices (in-silicon hardware tracing, software logging, signal capture with oscilloscope, protocol and logic analyzers).
- Develop silicon debug procedures and automated data collection, parsing, and analysis tools.
- Collaborate with display hardware, display software, SoC infrastructure, and performance/power teams to resolve system-level display failures.
- Define and document internal and customer-facing display system debugging processes.
- Write technical documentation and provide technical guidance to design, verification, and customer engineering teams.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; provide training for global customer engineering teams on display topics.
Requirements
Core skills and capabilities required for effective performance in this role. Degree requirements are summarized separately below.
- Hands-on experience with silicon- and system-level hardware/software debugging techniques and tools.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and logic analyzers for signal capture and analysis.
- Ability to develop debug tooling and automation for data collection and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to triage complex technical issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple parallel engagements in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for tool development and automation.
- SoC system-level debugging experience (preferred range: 5+ years) and display subsystem experience.
- Familiarity with display interface standards such as DisplayPort, DSC, MIPI, and HDMI.
- Experience presenting technical and business results to varied audiences, including senior management.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred. Candidates with relevant internships, co-op, or prior practical experience are considered.
