Job Title

System AI Engineer, Display (New Grad level and up)

Role Summary

Join the Display Processing Unit (DPU) Silicon System Debug team to identify and resolve display failures at the silicon and system level across Qualcomm platforms. The role combines silicon-level debugging, tool development, cross-functional collaboration, and customer-facing documentation to ensure reliable display solutions.

Experience Level

Open to new graduates and experienced candidates. The posting includes minimum experience ranges for experienced hires (see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mappings).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and isolate display issues at the silicon level reported by customers or internal teams.
  • Apply hardware/software debugging practices: silicon tracing, software logging, signal capture (oscilloscope, protocol analyzer, logic analyzer).
  • Develop silicon debug procedures, data collection tools, parsers, and analysis utilities.
  • Collaborate with display hardware, display software, SoC infrastructure, and performance/power teams to resolve system-level display faults.
  • Document internal and customer-facing debugging processes and technical findings.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers and customer engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Experience with ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work (years vary by seniority).
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills for complex hardware/software issues.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for tool development, automation, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with silicon-level debug tools and methods (trace capture, logging, signal/protocol analyzers).
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to align cross-functional stakeholders and present technical findings.
  • Ability to drive projects independently and manage multiple parallel engagements.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

  • SOC system-level debugging experience (example range cited: ~5+ years for senior cases).
  • Experience with display interfaces and standards such as DisplayPort, DSC, MIPI, HDMI.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and delivering technical training to customer teams.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify degree-and-experience combinations: Bachelor's in Science/Engineering/related field with 6+ years of relevant ASIC work; Master's with 5+ years; PhD with 4+ years. Preferred qualifications mention Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science with a foundation in SoC design and verification methodology. Equivalent practical experience in related technical roles is implied by the degree/experience alternatives.
