Synthesis Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Synthesis Engineer
Role Summary
Work on physical synthesis and timing closure for SoC designs within the hardware engineering team. Deliver optimized netlists and timing-constrained implementations by collaborating with design, DFT, and physical design teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level. The posting specifies 2+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include synthesis, timing closure, and delivering high-quality netlists.
- Develop and apply physical synthesis and synthesis methodologies using industry tools.
- Create and validate timing constraints for synthesis and static timing analysis (STA).
- Perform timing closure and pipelining at multiple levels, including multi-clock domain designs.
- Support MCMM synthesis and optimization flows.
- Implement low-power techniques (e.g., clock gating) and work with UPF flows.
- Automate flows and analyses using scripting (Perl, Python, TCL).
- Coordinate with design, DFT, and physical design teams for netlist delivery and constraint validation.
- Handle ECOs and participate in formal verification to maintain quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong understanding of physical synthesis and synthesis methodologies with industry-standard tools.
- Proven experience writing timing constraints and achieving timing closure.
- Experience with multi-clock domain timing closure and pipelining techniques.
- Familiarity with MCMM synthesis and optimization.
- Experience with low-power implementation flows and techniques (e.g., clock gating).
- Scripting skills: Perl, Python, or TCL for automation.
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance to other team members; handle ECOs and verification tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (as listed in the posting).
