SVE Validation Framework and QA Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SVE Validation Framework and QA Engineer
Role Summary
Work on Qualcomm's System Validation & Emulation (SVE) team to develop and maintain bare-metal validation frameworks, QA processes, and system-level test content for SoC validation across pre- and post-silicon phases.
The role requires cross-functional collaboration with architects, designers, verification and software teams to enable scalable validation infrastructure, release cadence, and debug of complex HW/SW issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting requests roughly 5+ years of hands-on silicon validation and embedded software development experience; alternative qualification pathways are listed under Education Requirements.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include framework development, QA planning, integration, and debugging to support global validation teams and SoC products.
- Design, develop, and debug system/IP validation frameworks for bare-metal and lightweight RTOS environments.
- Establish and manage QA release cadence and test infrastructure releases for internal and external consumption.
- Integrate SVE drivers and validation content with core teams to meet release quality and stability goals.
- Design and implement automated QA tools and flows to monitor and improve build and test quality metrics.
- Develop, port, and enhance system-level validation content (including low-power and system use cases) and perform root-cause analysis on HW bugs.
- Interface with IP validation, design, verification, and software teams to debug complex HW/SW issues and enable SVE infrastructure on emulation and post-silicon platforms.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for daily responsibilities. Education degree details are summarized separately under Education Requirements.
- Proven embedded software architecture and content development experience in C/C++ for validation.
- Familiarity with SoC architecture concepts: interconnects, power management, inter-processor communication, and related domains.
- Experience with hardware/software debug tools (e.g., JTAG, Lauterbach Trace32) and lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
- Proficient with source code management tools (Perforce, Git, SVN) and branching/merging workflows; ability to conduct code reviews.
- Deep understanding of software build toolchains: compilers, linkers, Makefiles, and methods to resolve linker/build issues.
- Familiarity with assembly, VHDL/Verilog, and scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration and debugging.
- Nice-to-have: OS/RTOS/Linux kernel internals, memory models, ARM/ARMv8/ARMv9/x86/RISC-V architecture knowledge, FPGA/emulation bring-up experience, build automation (Jenkins), and regression testing methodology.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience alternatives: Bachelor's + 4+ years, Master's + 3+ years, or PhD + 2+ years in ASIC design/verification/validation/integration or related work. Equivalent hands-on experience in silicon validation and embedded software can satisfy degree requirements.
