Summer 2027 Masters Field Applications Engineer Intern

Role Summary

Internship on AMD's Field Applications Engineering team supporting FPGA-based and x86 solutions. Work with cross-functional engineering and product teams to build demos, proofs-of-concept, and training materials that help customers adopt AMD technology.

This is a hands-on technical internship focused on digital design, system-level integration, and customer-facing technical enablement.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship targeting graduate students (Master's). Full-time intern role for the listed summer term.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities during the internship term include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and validate FPGA and x86-based solutions.
  • Gain practical experience with FPGA hardware, x86 servers, software tools, and development workflows.
  • Design, implement, and present technical demos and proofs-of-concept.
  • Create training materials and provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
  • Work with technologies such as machine learning, signal processing, and high-speed serial I/O.
  • Commit to full-time internship schedules (40 hours/week) during the specified summer or semester dates.

Requirements

Minimum and preferred qualifications for successful applicants.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience or coursework in digital design (VHDL/Verilog) and basic programming/data structures.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with object-oriented languages (C++, SystemVerilog, etc.) and scripting languages (Python, Perl).
  • Must-have: Interest in technical sales / customer enablement and strong communication skills for presenting technical material.
  • Must-have: Ability to work onsite or in a hybrid arrangement full-time for the internship duration.
  • Must-have: US work authorization for the internship period; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to CPU computer architecture, machine learning workloads, signal processing, or high-speed I/O.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a U.S.-based Master's degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's-level internship candidacy required).
