Summer 2027 Long Term Diagnostics Design Engineering Intern/Co-op

Role Summary

The Diagnostics Design Engineering intern develops and verifies diagnostics tests and tools for AMD processors, supporting presilicon verification, bring-up, qualification and production. The role sits on the Diagnostics team and combines hardware understanding with software test development for data center/AI, graphics and embedded products.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students currently enrolled in a university program; intended for co-op/undergraduate interns. The role is full-time for the internship term.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement and verify diagnostics tests used for processor qualification and production test suites.
  • Debug hardware and software issues at the system level.
  • Analyze fallout boards to identify improvements in test time, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Investigate and debug diagnostics source code using advanced C++ in a Linux environment.
  • Assist in ASIC bring-up and support activities for data center/AI, gaming graphics and embedded hardware.
  • Build and debug automation tools and scripts to support diagnostics and testing workflows.

Requirements

Technical skills and work conditions expected for the role.

  • Proficient in software programming with C++ and scripting languages.
  • Experience with software development and debugging in Linux.
  • Familiarity with PC/system, GPU and CPU hardware architectures and system-level debugging.
  • Experience with source control systems (e.g., GIT, SVN).
  • Ability to debug both HW and SW issues and to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Available to work full time (37.5 hours/week) in a hybrid or onsite structure for the internship term.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in a Canada-based university bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. This posting specifies co-op/intern student status and offers 12-month (May 03, 2027 to April 21, 2028) or 16-month (May 03, 2027 to August 18, 2028) term options.
