Substrate Supplier Enablement Engineer
Role Summary
Lead supplier development and qualification for advanced substrate and assembly technologies to enable new manufacturing capacity. Work with internal engineering teams and supplier partners to drive technical enablement, readiness milestones, and factory startup activities.
Role requires regular interaction with suppliers in East Asia and periodic on-site presence at supplier facilities.
Experience Level
Mid-level / Experienced hire. Candidates are expected to have several years of relevant industry experience (typical backgrounds range from ~2β6+ years depending on degree level).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on supplier enablement, qualification, and ensuring production-ready processes.
- Drive supplier development and qualification for high-density FCBGA, EMIB-T, glass-core substrates, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with supplier engineering and internal teams on component embedding, core fabrication, laser drilling, lamination, lithography, multi-metal plating, inspection/metrology, and electrical testing.
- Manage readiness milestones, detailed micro-schedules, and supplier alignment for new factory startups.
- Design and implement factory validation and product certification plans targeting yield improvement.
- Lead qualification activities and monitor ramp indicators to support incident-free production ramp.
- Work on cross-functional problem solving and drive corrective actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Attend periodic supplier meetings and travel to supplier sites, primarily in East Asia.

Must-have: Practical experience in advanced packaging or substrate manufacturing, including supplier development or technology enablement in high-volume environments.

Must-have: Experience with statistical tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC) for yield improvement.

Must-have: Proven ability to manage complex projects, meet milestones, and deliver results in manufacturing ramps.

Must-have: Strong English communication skills and ability to coordinate global teams.

Must-have: Willingness and ability to travel to supplier sites (frequent presence at supplier locations is expected).

Nice-to-have: Hands-on knowledge of process flow development, FMEA, DOE, and structured problem-solving tools.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 6+ years, Master's degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
