Substrate Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Lead quality engineering for substrate manufacturing suppliers supporting Intel's EMIB package and assembly across technology development and high-volume manufacturing. Partner with internal engineering teams, supplier manufacturing sites, and bridge silicon fabs to reduce manufacturing risk, improve process maturity, and ensure supply chain quality and reliability.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 10 years of semiconductor industry experience, including silicon process development and advanced packaging.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supplier engagement, technical risk assessment, and cross-functional quality leadership.
- Define and execute strategies to meet product milestones and mitigate technical and manufacturing risks at the component and supplier level.
- Drive supplier process improvements and coordinate supplier interactions with bridge silicon fabs and device vendors to support manufacturability and reliability.
- Maintain and enforce quality standards, review major quality events, and establish consistent supply-chain practices to support product performance.
- Lead quality assessments for new developments and supply-chain changes; respond to customer technical and quality requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering and customer-facing quality teams to influence packaging technology development and process maturity.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data using statistics and machine learning techniques to support disposition decisions for nonconforming products and systems.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and capabilities.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with experience in silicon process development and advanced packaging.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and supplier partners to achieve technical and business objectives.
- Experience managing supplier process technology, quality events, and supply-chain stability for package-level components.
- Practical skills in statistical analysis and data-driven methods; familiarity with machine learning techniques applied to manufacturing and quality problems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior technical leaders.
- Willingness to undergo and pass an extended background investigation required for this Position of Trust.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
