Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Join Acacia's Mixed Signal Design team to architect, design, layout, measure and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal CMOS ICs for optical transceiver products. The team collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module groups to deliver production-ready transceiver ASICs.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose, CA.

Experience Level

Senior-level engineer. This role requires substantial prior experience in high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC design (typical hires have 8+ years of related experience).

Responsibilities

Accountabilities for the role include end-to-end IC block ownership and cross-discipline collaboration.

  • Architect, design, simulate, layout and validate high-speed AMS blocks (25+ Gb/s) through production.
  • Lead a large design block on complex chips; mentor junior engineers and track deliverables.
  • Participate in peer reviews and enforce sound design methodology from concept to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
  • Develop test plans, perform lab validation and support characterization over process, voltage, temperature.
  • Work closely with digital/DSP, system and module teams to integrate mixed-signal blocks into products.

Requirements

Core technical requirements and preferred skills.

  • Must-have: Experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs, with proficiency in at least three of the following areas: high-speed serial links (serdes, ADC/DAC), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock distribution, op amps/programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization techniques.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with analog/MMIC layout and high-frequency floorplanning (power/ground, analog/digital segregation, signal routing).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FinFET or GAA technologies and design-for-manufacturability practices including PVT characterization, electromigration, self-heating and IR drop analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Laboratory validation experience, ESD practices, and building complex test setups.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS mixed-signal simulation flows and Matlab.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify one of: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience.
