Job Title

Student Signal and Power Integrity Engineer

Role Summary

Early-career student/junior engineer role on the SERDES Analog team in Haifa supporting integration of mixed-signal and high-speed SERDES IP into silicon, packages and PCBs. The role emphasizes hands-on simulation, verification and cross-team collaboration under senior guidance.

Altera provides programmable solutions for cloud-to-edge systems; this position contributes to ensuring signal and power integrity for high-speed interfaces.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Student intern. Suitable for B.Sc. or M.Sc. electrical engineering students; no prior full-time industry experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include simulation support, integration checks and verification tasks to enable successful IP, package and PCB delivery.

  • Support SERDES IP system and channel simulations: define reference channels, extract parameters and run simulations under senior guidance.
  • Assist integration of IP parameters with package and PCB designs to meet interface specifications.
  • Participate in package and PCB schematic/layout reviews, analyze simulation results, and help debug failing simulations.
  • Learn and apply signal and power integrity simulation environments for SIPI circuits, channels and IOs to optimize package and PCB designs.
  • Support design quality efforts to meet power, performance and signal integrity targets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful integration and delivery of IPs, packages and PCBs.

Requirements

Must-have technical abilities and attributes for successful candidates; preferred skills follow.

  • Strong understanding of electromagnetics and wave theory.
  • Practical experience from university projects related to analog/digital electronics or signal/power integrity.
  • Ability to learn and apply theoretical material across multidisciplinary domains (analog, digital, SIPI).
  • Motivated, detail-oriented team player able to follow direction from senior engineers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Keysight ADS or HSPICE for circuit/channel simulation setup and execution.
  • Hands-on experience with electromagnetic tools such as Ansys HFSS, Cadence Clarity or similar.
  • Familiarity with PCIe and IEEE Ethernet specifications.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (students at recognized universities). Posting requests strong academic performance (average grade above 85) and mentions students with approximately one year until graduation. Applicants are asked to include their academic grade transcript with the application.
