Strip Test Engineer

Role Summary

Maintain, optimize, and develop backend testing and strip-handling processes for semiconductor products using strip and film-frame handlers. Focus on yield improvement, equipment reliability, defect reduction, and maximizing throughput in Final Test operations.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires 5+ years of experience in semiconductor backend manufacturing, specifically Final Test, Tape & Reel, and strip-handling.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Maintain and optimize strip-handling and testing processes (including Cohu SH5300A and FH1200 handlers).
• Monitor process performance to improve yield and reduce defects and test escapes.
• Analyze root causes of test failures and yield drops using statistical data analysis.
• Collaborate with equipment maintenance teams and external vendors to troubleshoot handlers, ATE, and vision systems.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, process travelers, and risk assessment documentation (e.g., PFMEA).
• Train operators and production technicians on new process requirements and troubleshooting methods.
• Identify and implement actions to maximize throughput, reduce equipment downtime, and lower cost.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• 5+ years' experience in semiconductor backend manufacturing, including Final Test, Tape & Reel, and strip-handling.
• Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and strip-handling machines.
• Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies (GR&R).
• Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, or advanced Excel.
• Hands-on experience with root-cause analysis frameworks (8D or Six Sigma).
• Ability to work with maintenance teams and external vendors to resolve equipment issues.

Nice-to-have:

• Practical experience with specific handler models (Cohu SH5300A, FH1200).
• Prior experience writing PFMEA and detailed process travelers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
