Storage and Memory Systems Architect

Role Summary

Senior systems architect responsible for defining technical requirements and strategy for memory, storage, and data infrastructure across node- to rack-level datacenter platforms. The role works across hardware and software teams and with external partners to influence SoC and platform roadmaps and validate solutions.

Team based out of Austin, TX; remote candidates will be considered. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 10 or more years of relevant experience, with responsibility for strategic technical direction and stakeholder-facing presentations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define system-level vision and technical requirements for memory, storage, and data infrastructure for datacenter products.
  • Engage OEMs, customers, and ISV/IHV partners to translate workloads and use cases into joint roadmap and reference platform requirements.
  • Partner with SoC design teams and product management to provide a unified platform/system-level vision that influences SoC roadmaps.
  • Drive workload- and application-level strategies and run hands-on proofs-of-concept to collect data and validate approaches.
  • Represent and promote datacenter system-level vision in industry consortiums, events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Synthesize customer, partner, and ISV feedback to guide product definition and tradeoff analyses.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Broad and deep systems technology background with experience developing and influencing technical strategy across hardware and software stacks.
  • Ability to translate workload and application trends into system architecture and SoC implications and to produce actionable plans.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for internal stakeholders, customers, and consortiums.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product management, and business development.
  • Analytical decision-making and experience performing tradeoff analyses with technical and business impact.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience as lead architect/engineer for enterprise storage platforms or subsystems (cloud, AI, storage, HPC, edge, 5G, or embedded).
  • Deep understanding of CPU-based computer architectures; x86 experience highly desired.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design, interconnects, and storage technologies (flash, storage-class memory, RAID, SSDs, DDR, NVMe, NVMe-oF, NVM programming).
  • Familiarity with networking and IO: Ethernet, InfiniBand, SmartNICs, NVMe-oF, PCIe, CXL, UCIe, and scale-up/scale-out fabrics.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. The posting specifies 10 or more years of applicable experience.
