Job Title

STCO Methodology & Framework Technologist (up to Staff)

Role Summary

Develop system-level STCO (system, technology, and cost optimization) methodologies and reusable frameworks to support early architecture and chiplet-based platform trade-off analysis for advanced SoCs. Work with cross-functional experts to prototype decision flows and migrate validated concepts into scalable engineering tools.

Experience Level

Senior-level (role described up to Staff). Expected to operate independently on complex system‑level problems and mentor others.

Responsibilities

Deliver methodology, prototype pilot tools, and production-ready frameworks that quantify system-level trade-offs across architecture, technology, and packaging domains.

  • Design and implement modular, data-driven frameworks that combine system KPIs, IP metrics, technology data, and packaging/thermal constraints.
  • Prototype early STCO concepts using structured Excel models for rapid iteration and stakeholder reviews.
  • Translate validated prototypes into scalable Python-based tools for broader reuse and integration.
  • Perform design-space exploration and quantitative "what-if" trade-off analyses for chiplet-based and monolithic SoC options.
  • Integrate multi-source technical inputs and communicate assumptions, insights, and limitations clearly to cross-functional teams.
  • Support pilot demonstrations and cross-team technical reviews; evolve pilots into reusable engineering frameworks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience required to perform the role. Education details are listed separately below.

  • Proven software development ability to design and implement structured, maintainable technical frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Python (or equivalent) for data modeling, analysis, and framework development.
  • Strong Excel modeling skills for building structured, parametric prototypes and decision flows.
  • Experience developing methodology, prototyping, or optimization tools for semiconductor technology analysis, system modeling, or architecture exploration.
  • Working knowledge of chiplet-based SoC architectures and 2.5D/3D integration concepts.
  • Solid understanding of system‑level KPIs beyond PPAC (e.g., bandwidth, latency, thermal limits, power integrity).
  • Experience with early design‑space exploration and quantitative trade‑off evaluation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience evolving pilot/prototype tools into reusable engineering frameworks.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills and clear technical communication.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor design enablement flows, EDA methodologies, or system-level modeling environments.
  • Ability to work independently in technically ambiguous problem spaces while collaborating with domain experts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant ASIC/design/verification/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
