Standard Cell Library Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver standard cell libraries for Intel's advanced process nodes to support internal SoC teams and foundry customers. The role covers circuit design, library characterization, verification, automation, and release activities within a cross-functional engineering team.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with less than 2 years of relevant work experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design, verification, and delivery of standard cell libraries.
- Design and implement combinational, sequential, and power-management circuits for advanced process technologies.
- Perform parasitic extraction and optimize cells for power, performance, robustness, and density.
- Develop automation flows for modeling, validation, quality checks, and performance/reliability verification.
- Characterize libraries for timing, noise, power, and variation; generate front-end and back-end models.
- Build, validate, release, and support standard cell libraries for product and customer design projects.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Knowledge of CMOS digital circuit design (combinational logic and sequential elements) and layout considerations.
- Familiarity with industry EDA tool flows in one or more areas: circuit simulation, cell characterization, logic synthesis, place-and-route, physical verification.
- Scripting experience for automation using one or more of: TCL, Perl, Python, csh (or similar).
- Experience working in a Linux environment and using common Linux-based development tools.
- Ability to develop and maintain automation flows, and to validate and release library components.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, VLSI, Microelectronics, or a closely related field. The role explicitly accepts fresh graduates and candidates with under 2 years of experience.
