Design Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Join the ASIC design team to support ongoing RTL and simulation tasks for memory-related projects. This is a 6-month, full-time (40 hrs/week) onsite internship in San Jose, CA, starting immediately.

Typical work includes RTL coding, simulation execution and debugging, design database management, and cross-functional communication with designers and verification engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Suitable for current students or recent graduates; no minimum years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities:

• Manage design databases: check in golden files, revert unused changes, and merge file versions.
• Develop and modify RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Run and analyze simulations using Synopsys VCS.
• Debug simulation issues (compilation failures, hangs, functional failures) and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with designers, verification engineers, and other teams to implement fixes and improvements.

Requirements

Essential and desirable skills for the role.

• Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
• Must-have: Ability to run and debug simulations (experience with Synopsys VCS is required).
• Must-have: Good communication skills in a co-working environment and dependable work ethic (punctual, meets deadlines).
• Must-have: Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday; 100% onsite for the 6-month internship.
• Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Tcl) and a problem-solving mindset.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with end-to-end ASIC/FPGA flow from concept to silicon.

Education Requirements

BS or MS (completed or in progress) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
