Role Summary
Join the Design Technology Platform Production Library team as a Standard Cell Design Engineer responsible for developing and delivering high-quality standard cell libraries for advanced CMOS process technologies. The role focuses on power integrity and reliability library collateral, characterization methodology, and ensuring library usability across implementation flows.
The position involves collaboration with design, characterization, CAD, and PDK teams to support library development, debugging, and releases for SoC, microprocessor, and foundry customer designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience in foundry or chip design with advanced CMOS technologies.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities center on creating, validating, and delivering library collateral and ensuring library quality and usability downstream.
- Own delivery of standard cell library collaterals including power integrity libraries (APL, PGV), and reliability libraries (EMT, MTV).
- Develop and drive library characterization methodology and robust quality checks across EDA tools.
- Ensure library consistency, quality, and integration with downstream implementation flows.
- Debug implementation issues reported by design teams and develop practical solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, characterization, CAD, PDK) to support development and release cycles.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- 3+ years of experience in foundry or chip design using advanced CMOS technologies.
- Practical experience with standard cell library development, reliability analysis, and verification.
- Experience with EDA tools for IR drop and reliability analysis such as PrimeLib, PrimeSim EMIR, RedHawk, Totem.
- Familiarity with implementation tools such as Voltus and RedHawk Seascape.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation (TCL, Perl, Python, or shell scripting).
- Strong debugging skills and ability to develop solutions for implementation/kit integration issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field; equivalent practical experience also acceptable.
