Job Title
Staff Wireless IC Digital Designer
Role Summary
Lead the digital design and integration of RF/wireless system-on-chip (SoC) products, from product definition through silicon bring-up and production. The role spans RF system architecture, digital baseband and RTL design, verification, FPGA validation, lab characterization, and production support.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8β12 years of relevant digital design experience (preferred range provided by employer).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, design, verification, and production transfer for wireless/RF SoC digital IP and systems.
- Develop product requirements and RF/digital SoC specifications.
- Define and document RFIC system and SoC digital architectures to meet power, performance, and area targets.
- Perform RTL design and integration of block-level and RFIC digital architectures.
- Simulate and verify RTL and gate-level functionality at block and SoC levels; create verification plans.
- Execute synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), logical equivalence checking (LEC), and ATPG pattern generation.
- Oversee SoC physical design interactions and closure activities.
- Complete FPGA-based verification for radio IP prior to tape-out and support lab characterization.
- Support high-volume manufacturing handoff and collaborate with Product and Test teams.
Requirements
Core skills and capabilities required for success in this role.
- Expertise in communication systems, digital signal processing (DSP), and modern wireless digital baseband design.
- Experience with bit-level modeling and simulation for performance trade-off analysis.
- Strong RTL design, integration, and verification experience for radio/SoC IP.
- Experience with synthesis, STA, LEC, ATPG, and gate-level timing simulation.
- FPGA verification experience for radio IP and hands-on lab validation skills.
- Technical leadership: ability to provide direction, define architecture, and drive methodology improvements.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing experience translating requirements into solutions.
- Experience supporting production transfer and working with test and product teams.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Employer indicates 8β12 years of relevant digital design engineering experience as preferred. Equivalent experience accepted.
