RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead micro-architecture and RTL design for critical CPU blocks, delivering designs that meet power, performance, area, and timing targets. Work closely with verification and performance teams and provide technical leadership to junior RTL designers.
Experience Level
Mid-level — requires 5+ years of RTL design experience focused on CPU micro-architecture and high-performance computing.
Responsibilities
Deliver micro-architecture and RTL for CPU blocks and coordinate across teams to ensure correctness and performance.
- Drive micro-architecture from high-level exploration through detailed specification.
- Design, refine, and optimize RTL to meet PPA (power, performance, area) and timing goals.
- Supervise and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior RTL designers.
- Collaborate with design verification to implement and execute functional verification strategies.
- Support performance verification to validate RTL against architectural goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 5+ years of hands-on RTL design experience.
- Expertise in CPU micro-architecture and high-performance computing strategies.
- Practical experience with RISC or RISC-V architectures.
- Proficiency in Python or Perl scripting for design automation and analysis.
- Experience with multi-threading and SIMD design techniques.
- Familiarity with functional verification processes and collaboration with verification teams.
- Ability to implement configurable design features.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with hardware virtualization techniques.
- Low-power micro-architecture experience.
