Staff Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer responsible for subsystem-level functional and performance verification of high-speed IOs (PCIe and CXL) on SoCs and test chips. The role sits within a cross-site Solutions Engineering team collaborating with architects, RTL designers, and verification engineers across the UK, US, Canada and India.

Focus areas include subsystem integration, interoperability with Arm and third-party IP, performance analysis, and improving verification methodologies.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 5+ years of verification experience with PCIe or CXL subsystems or SoCs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities at the sub-system level.

• Define functional verification strategies for PCIe/CXL subsystem integration and IO virtualization scenarios (including Arm SMMU).
• Produce test plans and develop SystemVerilog/Verilog/UVM testbenches and tests.
• Perform interoperability and performance verification with Arm and third‑party IP.
• Run simulation and emulation flows; debug test failures and verification issues.
• Improve and scale verification methodologies and tools used by the team.
• Collaborate with architects and design teams on microarchitecture and system performance concerns.
• Support project planning and scheduling; mentor and guide junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 5+ years verification experience working on PCIe or CXL subsystems or SoCs.
• Solid understanding of digital hardware design and Verilog HDL.
• Experience in PCIe, CXL feature verification and performance analysis.
• Knowledge of System Memory Management Unit (SMMU) and Generic Interrupt Controller integration with PCIe.
• Experience with PCIe & CXL IPs and emulation-friendly transactors.
• Experience with simulation and emulation platforms and practical debug using debuggers.
• Expertise in UVM-based verification and verification sign-off practices (test-plan creation, coverage, tracking).
• Familiarity with formal verification methodology.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Arm-based designs or ARM system architectures.
• Clock-domain crossing and power-aware verification experience.
• Scripting skills (Perl, Python) and familiarity with AI coding assistants.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field (as stated in the source). No other certifications or alternate-equivalent language was specified.
