Job Title

Staff Validation Engineer, Post-Silicon Validation & Characterization

Role Summary

Lead post-silicon validation and characterization efforts for high-speed memory devices, focusing on bench-level electrical and timing measurements, debug, and performance optimization. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to define experiments, analyze results, and drive silicon bring-up across product iterations.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 8+ years of hands-on experience in high-speed analog and mixed-signal device validation and characterization.

Responsibilities

Perform and plan hands-on validation and characterization tasks; analyze results and communicate findings across teams.

  • Design and execute bench-level experiments using advanced test and measurement techniques (de‑embedding, high‑impedance probing, noise compensation) to address signal-integrity challenges.
  • Characterize critical electrical and timing parameters for high-speed memory devices and buffers during silicon bring-up.
  • Collaborate with design, system, and product engineering to debug, correlate measurements to design, and optimize device performance beyond specification-driven tests.
  • Synthesize experimental data, define follow-up experiments to isolate issues, and iterate until root cause is understood.
  • Produce clear, structured reports and visualizations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and apply data-analysis automation, including experimental use of LLM/AI techniques, to accelerate insight generation and reporting.
  • Document test methodologies, procedures, and assumptions to ensure reproducibility and scalability across validation efforts.
  • Work effectively with geographically distributed validation teams to share results and align on debug strategies.

Requirements

Technical skills and domain experience required and preferred.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in high-speed analog and mixed-signal device validation and characterization.
  • Strong understanding of signaling levels, termination architectures, and signal-integrity tradeoffs in high-speed systems.
  • Expertise with high-speed interface test equipment (BERT, high-speed oscilloscopes, compliance software).
  • Proficiency in scripting for test automation and data analysis (Python preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up and validation for memory interfaces and buffers, preferably with DDR5.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: experience with advanced signal-integrity measurement techniques and design correlation, and deep knowledge of memory interface architectures and protocols.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree is listed as preferred.
