Staff Validation Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Staff Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead on the Silicon Validation team in Bengaluru responsible for post-silicon validation of DC-DC converter and power-management IC products. Owns validation architecture, test plans, bench characterization, and debug activities from silicon bring-up through characterization and reliability testing.
Mentors junior validation engineers and coordinates validation efforts with IC design, system, firmware, and product engineering teams to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.
Experience Level
Senior - 9+ years of hands-on post-silicon validation experience, with significant focus on DC-DC converters and power management ICs.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute post-silicon validation activities, drive technical decisions, and mentor team members.
- Serve as technical lead for post-silicon validation of DC-DC converters (LDO, Buck, Boost, Buck-boost, drivers, controllers).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive validation test plans and methodologies from bring-up to characterization and stress testing.
- Perform hands-on silicon bring-up, bench characterization, and debugging using oscilloscopes, SMUs, AWGs, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers, thermal chambers, etc.
- Lead root-cause analysis and drive cross-functional resolutions with design, system, firmware, and test teams.
- Design, review, and validate custom test setups and validation boards; review PCB schematics and layouts for high-frequency/high-current power circuits.
- Define and contribute to automated test scripts, frameworks, and data-analysis workflows to improve validation throughput and reproducibility.
- Communicate validation findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders; maintain validation documentation and quality standards.
- Promote process improvements and adherence to safety/ESD protocols.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for immediate contribution in a hands-on validation role.
- 9+ years of post-silicon validation experience with a strong focus on DC-DC converters and power-management ICs.
- Deep understanding of DC-DC topologies, control schemes, and performance metrics (efficiency, ripple, load transient, stability, EMI/EMC).
- Proven bench validation and debugging skills with high-bandwidth instruments and power test equipment.
- Experience with PCB schematics and layout review for high-frequency/high-current power designs; validation board development experience is a plus.
- Experience in test planning and execution across PVT corners, operating modes, and stress conditions.
- Familiarity with EDA and simulation tools for schematic/layout viewing and analysis (examples: Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, Siemens Calibre, Synopsys Verdi).
- Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model with a regular presence in the Bengaluru lab.
- Nice-to-have: experience with automated test frameworks, data analysis tooling, and validation infrastructure optimization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (as stated in the posting).
