Job Title

Staff Test Engineer, Hardware Security

Role Summary

Lead a team that develops, implements, and optimizes security test and OTP programming solutions for ASICs, SoCs and multi-chiplet products. Own silicon bring-up, ATE test program development, and security validation across product lifecycle stages.

Collaborate with design, DFT, verification, software, program management and product teams to ensure manufacturing security, reliability, and timely delivery to production.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires multiple years of hardware test and leadership experience. Posting indicates typical experience ranges of 4+ years of hardware engineering (or Master's with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years) and 2+ years leading/managing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

The role combines technical ownership of ATE test programs and team leadership to deliver secure, production-ready silicon.

  • Lead and mentor hardware security test engineers; manage multiple projects and drive deliverables.
  • Create test plans prior to tape-out covering lifecycle state (LCS) and HW/SW/DFT accessibility requirements.
  • Develop and validate ATE test programs (Java, VB) for platforms such as Advantest 93K and UF+; ensure scalability and production readiness.
  • Bring up silicon for internal and external customers; analyze test results to improve yield, reduce test time, and avoid fusing errors.
  • Drive debug efforts for chip fusing functionality and yield issues.
  • Develop validation tools and software systems to support test and programming flows.
  • Design custom digital circuitry to support on-board boot and product-specific security requirements.

Requirements

Key technical and leadership expectations for candidates.

Must-have

  • Proven experience developing and executing ATE test programs and test methodologies (3+ years relevant ATE/test experience expected).
  • Practical programming experience in Object-Oriented languages (Java, C++); able to write Java for ATE functionality and measurements.
  • Strong UNIX/Linux proficiency and scripting experience (Perl/Python preferred).
  • Experience with version control systems (SVN/GIT) and SW systems/applications development.
  • Hands-on experience with digital circuit design and ability to design support circuitry for security features.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute ATE test programs to schedule under tight test time budgets; strong attention to detail and debugging skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Experience leading/managing engineering teams (2+ years).

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Advantest 93K and UF+ ATE platforms.
  • Familiarity with Boundary Scan, ATPG, MBIST and test protocols such as TIC and JTAG.
  • Experience with Lauterbach Trace32, embedded software development, FPGA programming, and PCB schematic/layout.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS/B.Eng) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field (with ~4+ years hardware engineering experience); OR Master's degree in those fields (with ~3+ years); OR PhD in those fields (with ~2+ years). Related technical disciplines acceptable as stated in the posting.
