Staff System Modelling Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Staff System Modelling Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of high-level SystemC/C++ models for mixed-signal connectivity IP to support simulation, emulation, verification and early software development. Work within the Hardware Engineering team to integrate models into verification and virtual platforms and to improve modelling processes and tools.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8β12 years of experience in SystemC/C++/C modelling and simulation; prior experience with SoC/ASIC modelling and emulation platforms is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and maintaining virtual models, integrating them into verification and emulation flows, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Create SystemC/C++/C models of connectivity and mixed-signal IP.
- Test, debug and validate models using SystemC simulation frameworks (e.g. TLM2.0, SCV).
- Integrate models into emulation and verification environments to enable early software development and functional simulation.
- Work with industry emulation platforms such as Zebu, Palladium and Veloce.
- Integrate and verify models within virtual platforms and larger system models.
- Maintain and update models to reflect design changes and requirements.
- Document model interfaces and provide integration support to downstream teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure model accuracy and alignment with specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; contribute to process and tooling improvements.
Requirements
Technical and leadership requirements. Degree and academic expectations are summarized in the Education Requirements section below.
- Must-have: 8β12 years of hands-on experience in SystemC/C++/C modelling and simulation.
- Proficiency with SystemC simulation tools and frameworks (TLM2.0, SCV, etc.).
- Practical experience with hardware and software design and verification methodologies and standards.
- Experience modelling complex systems such as embedded systems, SoCs, or ASICs.
- Experience integrating models into emulation and virtual platforms.
- Strong debugging, documentation, communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years' relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years' relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where stated.
