Staff System Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for system-level design and customer-facing support of multi-channel digital RF receivers and transmitters across phased-array, radar, electronic warfare, satellite and military communications markets. Works within the Applications Engineering team to translate system requirements into hardware and software, and to support integration, troubleshooting and productization.
Position is based in Newbury. Role requires occasional travel (~10%) and is day-shift.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design multi-channel digital receivers and transmitters for phased-array, radar, EW, satellite and military communications.
- Develop RF digital converter–centric hardware and software from concept (block diagrams) through productization.
- Analyze signal chains using RF cascade concepts such as gain, noise figure, linearity and power.
- Collaborate with internal applications and marketing teams to translate system requirements into product definitions.
- Guide customers through system integration, troubleshooting and testing; support field issues.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Strong knowledge of RF, analog, digital and mixed-signal fundamentals.
- Practical experience with RF cascade analysis (gain, spurious, linearity, noise figure) and mixed-signal systems.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication.
- Experience using lab diagnostic equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; experience in customer-facing technical roles.
- Willingness to comply with export licensing requirements where applicable.
Nice-to-have:
- Phased-array, radar, electronic warfare, satellite communication or military communications experience.
- Printed circuit board design experience and exposure to PCB design tools.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python scripting and C/C++ programming.
Education Requirements
