Staff Software Engineer – SoC Software Productisation
Role Summary
Lead a team of test engineers in the Infrastructure Solutions Software (CE‑SW) group to define and execute system-level validation for server and infrastructure SoC platforms. The role combines technical leadership, hands-on development of test automation and infrastructure, and coordination across hardware, firmware and software teams to achieve production-quality silicon.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff-level). This is a leadership role requiring substantial hands-on technical experience in system validation and team leadership.
Responsibilities
Accountable for planning and delivering system verification and product readiness across pre-silicon and silicon stages.
- Lead, mentor and line-manage a team of test engineers while remaining hands-on.
- Translate requirements into validation plans, test activities, coverage goals and estimates.
- Design, develop and maintain test automation, frameworks, CI and regression infrastructure.
- Drive system-level validation, failure analysis and defect resolution across software, firmware and hardware domains.
- Collaborate with firmware, platform software and hardware teams to unblock issues and support product release.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience relevant to system validation for SoC and platform software.
- Proven experience in software testing and system-level validation for SoC, firmware, platform software or embedded systems.
- Experience leading and developing engineers with strong technical leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in test methodologies, automation, continuous integration and regression testing.
- Experience using test coverage, quality metrics and defect management to drive product quality.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of server-class SoC features (RAS, power management, PCIe, CXL, memory, virtualization).
- Familiarity with Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A, UEFI EDK II, OpenBMC or KVM.
- Experience with automated system validation, hardware test rigs, server farms or CI infrastructure.
