Staff Software Engineer - QA

Role Summary

Lead a team of QA engineers delivering validation and system software for Arm's cloud and data-center SoC, firmware and platform software. Provide technical direction, grow engineering capability, and drive delivery of complex validation, debugging and stress-testing across SoC, firmware and system software.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff level). Years of experience: Not specified.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical leadership, team development and delivery of system-level validation and quality assurance for server and data-center platforms.

  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to a team of QA engineers.
  • Define and drive validation strategy across SoC, firmware and system software.
  • Design, implement and automate tests for CPU, memory, high-speed I/O, networking, storage, power and thermal systems.
  • Lead debugging, root-cause analysis and long-duration stress and stability testing.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with firmware, kernel, device driver and platform teams.
  • Improve engineering processes and capability for repeatable, scalable validation and telemetry.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for the role, plus desirable skills that would accelerate impact.

Must-have:
  • Strong C/C++ skills for low-level system and hardware validation; practical Python and Shell scripting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of the Linux server ecosystem: firmware, kernel, device drivers, networking, storage, system management and hardware bring-up.
  • Experience with server management and BMC-based platform management.
  • Experience with application processors and embedded/control processors in complex SoCs.
  • Familiarity with secure boot, boot-stage sequencing, firmware authentication, reset flows, watchdogs and inter-processor communication mechanisms.
  • Hands-on validation, debugging and stress-testing across system-level areas such as CPU, memory, PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, RDMA/RoCE, RAS/telemetry, power/thermal, performance and stability testing.
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience with MPI/CCL-style communication stacks and collective operations.
  • Knowledge of 100G/200G/400G Ethernet, RDMA, accelerator networking, AI/HPC systems and data-center networking.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch and AI/ML workloads, benchmarking, and accelerator-system validation.
