Staff Software Engineer - Product Validation

Role Summary

Senior engineering role in Arm's System Solutions software organization focused on validation and quality of Neoverse-based platforms. The role leads a validation focus group responsible for system readiness, release confidence, and customer-facing adaptability across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.

The engineer will define validation processes and metrics, support silicon bring-up and platform integration, and mentor validation engineers to improve test automation and evidence-driven release decisions.

Experience Level

Level: Senior. The posting specifies a senior/Staff engineer role; no explicit years-of-experience requirement was stated.

Responsibilities

Lead validation strategy and delivery across the product lifecycle; collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership.

  • Define and lead end-to-end validation and product quality assurance for firmware, embedded software, and platform solutions.
  • Develop test strategies, plans, automation methodologies for pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Provide deep technical expertise in platform domains (e.g., HSIO, LSIO, BIOS/UEFI, RAS, telemetry, BMC).
  • Support silicon bring-up, board validation, firmware integration, and system-level debugging.
  • Define and monitor key quality indicators, validation metrics, and coverage goals to inform release decisions.
  • Mentor and lead validation engineers on test architecture, automation, debugging, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

Must-have skills and background relevant to leading validation for complex firmware and platform software.

  • Proven experience in firmware/platform/embedded software validation, quality engineering, or equivalent roles delivering products from concept to production.
  • Experience defining and delivering validation strategies, quality frameworks, and release qualification plans for hardware–software integrated platforms.
  • Expertise in validation architecture, test strategies, test plans, and coverage across component, subsystem, integration and system levels.
  • Background in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation and silicon bring-up; experience on Arm-based systems is desirable.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++; proficiency with automation and scripting (Python, Shell, Perl).

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with server or infrastructure platforms and customer-facing production environments.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, bootloaders, firmware interfaces, device drivers, and board bring-up flows.
  • Experience with platform compliance/readiness programs (e.g., SystemReady, ACS), firmware conformance, security validation, or customer acceptance testing.
  • Experience building/scaling validation teams, lab automation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or release-readiness processes.
  • Experience working in globally distributed teams.

Education Requirements
