Staff Software Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop software frameworks and evaluation collateral for Renesas IC products, including GUI, automated testing, software/hardware interfaces and web-based tools. Provide integration support, documentation and training for internal teams and external customers.

Primary mission: deliver maintainable evaluation software that enables timely IC project validation and customer evaluation.

Experience Level

Senior level — typically 6+ years professional software engineering experience (see Education Requirements for equivalent academic guidance).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Design, implement and maintain software frameworks and evaluation collateral for Renesas ICs.
• Develop GUIs, web interfaces and automated test systems for product evaluation.
• Integrate software with hardware reference platforms and perform system-level validation and debugging.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
• Provide support, training and on-site assistance to internal teams and external customers.
• Collaborate with internal groups and third parties to integrate and test delivered software on target platforms.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Strong, hands-on software engineering skills with emphasis on design, coding and testing.
• Experience performing software system integration onto hardware reference platforms.
• Strong Python programming knowledge.
• Experience with web/front-end frameworks: TypeScript, React, Electron.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Customer-facing experience and cultural awareness when supporting internal or external customers.

Nice-to-have:

• C and C++ programming experience.
• GUI development experience (Qt).
• Git and additional web development experience.
• Low-level communication bus programming (I2C, I2S, SPI) and bare-metal software experience.
• Lab automation and instrumentation programming knowledge (PXI, GPIB, SCPI).

Education Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering, software engineering, computer science or a related technical field.
