Staff Software Engineer

Role Summary

Senior software engineer on a team that develops low-level software for Arm-based embedded, client and server platforms. The role focuses on design, implementation, debugging and delivery of firmware, OS components and platform software, and includes technical leadership or people-management responsibilities.

Senior β€” Minimum 14+ years of demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities include development, debugging and leading delivery of low-level platform software.

  • Design and implement features and fixes in Trusted Firmware, secure OS, bootloaders, hypervisors, AOSP and the Linux kernel.
  • Low-level software development, test and debug on models, development boards and shipping products.
  • Analyze and fix complex defects; use assembly-level knowledge and advanced debugging techniques.
  • Define and maintain test strategies, CI pipelines and test automation to ensure software quality.
  • Provide technical leadership or act as a people manager: mentor engineers, guide teams, and coordinate work for predictable delivery.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Minimum 14+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and ability to add substantial new functionality.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving sophisticated defects; familiarity with assembly and strong debugging skills.
  • Expertise in low-level software and system architecture (ARM preferred), including OS fundamentals and bootloaders.
  • Practical knowledge of test methodologies, CI and test automation.
  • Proven technical leadership or people-management experience and mentoring of junior engineers.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Python and shell scripting.
  • Software profiling, instrumentation and performance optimization experience.
  • Familiarity with Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices.
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects and managing upstream codelines.
  • Strong written and spoken English and interpersonal skills.
