Staff Software Engineer

Role Summary

Lead architect and developer of complex software systems that support EDA/CAD, PDK development, and design-automation workflows for semiconductor R&D. Works within an engineering organization to deliver tools and automation that integrate design, process technology, manufacturing, and IT.

Serves as the technical lead on major software initiatives, driving architecture, standards, and cross-team delivery while mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable software systems for EDA CAD, PDK, and design-automation workflows.
  • Act as technical lead on major initiatives; drive architectural decisions and ensure maintainability and extensibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, process technology, manufacturing, IT) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Define software requirements, technical specifications, and development standards for critical platforms.
  • Lead design and code reviews; develop and enforce testing and automation strategies to improve software quality.
  • Develop and deploy tools, frameworks, processes, and metrics used broadly across R&D.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues affecting internal customers.
  • Mentor and upskill junior and senior engineers to raise the teams technical capability.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements.

  • Minimum of 5 years of software product development experience in relevant domains.
  • Experience with EDA and RF design platforms such as Cadence MWOffice, Keysight ADS, Synopsys ICV, and Mentor Graphics Calibre (DRC/LVS).
  • Experience in RF/microwave PDK development, including resonator modeling, piezoelectric material characterization, DRC rule integration, multi-parameter extraction, and automated footprint generation for 5G applications.
  • Advanced programming and algorithm skills: C++, Python (scientific computing), MATLAB, Ruby, and C#/.NET.
  • EDA scripting and automation experience: VBA, SKILL (Cadence), AEL (Keysight), Perl, and advanced PowerShell automation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise frameworks and cloud architecture components such as Qt5 GUI development, Cucumber BDD testing, and Appium mobile automation.
  • Proven ability to lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and cross-team technical discussions.

Education Requirements
