Job Title
Staff SoC Performance Architect β Next-Generation Server Platforms
Role Summary
Architect focused on system performance for next-generation server platforms, combining workload characterization, silicon-level analysis, and architectural design. The role works across hardware and software teams to drive measurable performance improvements for AI-scale and HPC workloads.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies 6+ years of experience in system or hardware architecture.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities involve workload evaluation on silicon, benchmarking, and translating findings into architectural recommendations.
- Evaluate and analyze real-world workloads on production silicon, with emphasis on AI at scale and HPC.
- Define performance metrics, representative use cases, and benchmarking strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement microbenchmarks to isolate and study architectural behavior.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend actionable optimizations.
- Translate workload and silicon insights into architectural improvements for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to influence system-level design decisions.
- Provide technical leadership and act as a performance expert across teams.
- Drive end-to-end validation from architecture through silicon to ensure target performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience required to perform the role.
- 6+ years of system or hardware architecture experience with exposure to CPU/accelerator architectures, cache and memory subsystems, or PCIe/networking/storage.
- Strong background in either high-performance IO/networking (e.g., PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, RoCE) or performance optimization for HPC or cloud-scale systems.
- Proven expertise in benchmarking methodologies and development of custom microbenchmarks.
- Experience with performance analysis tools, profiling, and ideally simulation environments.
- Proficiency in SystemC, TLM, C++, and Python.
- Ability to navigate and contribute effectively within large, complex codebases.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with silicon bring-up or post-silicon performance analysis; familiarity with performance simulators or architectural modeling tools.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
