Staff SoC Performance Architect

Role Summary

Join the Central Technology Systems group to define SoC and subsystem performance and analysis requirements across premium mobile, infrastructure and automotive sectors. The role focuses on specifying, analysing and ensuring system-level performance for next-generation high-performance SoCs.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting specifies a minimum of 4 years of SoC architecture or software performance analysis experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining performance targets, collaborating across teams, and driving analysis from models to silicon.

  • Define SoC and subsystem performance and analysis requirements.
  • Collaborate with system architects, system designers, IP teams and analysis teams to deliver performance objectives.
  • Engage with specialists across modelling, RTL simulation, emulation/FPGA, silicon and software to validate performance.
  • Explore and challenge limits of IP and system performance capabilities and identify optimisations.
  • Work effectively in small teams and contribute independently where required.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in SoC architecture, SoC performance analysis, or software performance analysis.
  • Good understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture concepts (cache hierarchy, memory access efficiency, multi-core architecture, performance metrics).
  • Strong analytical mindset and a passion for performance improvement.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively; demonstrates initiative and problem-solving ability.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) with strong communication skills at both detailed and high levels.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with pre-silicon platforms: modelling, RTL simulation, emulation or FPGA.
  • Familiarity with the Arm architecture.

Education Requirements

University degree (or equivalent practical experience) or PhD in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related technical field.
