Job Title
Staff SOC Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Fast Models team to develop high-performance software models and virtual platforms that enable early firmware, OS and application development before silicon availability. You will translate hardware designs and specifications into system-level software models and collaborate with hardware architects, RTL designers and software teams across Arm.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 12+ years of professional experience in software or SoC modeling.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain functional models and integrate them into system-level virtual platforms to support software bring-up and system validation.
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance functional models of system IP using C++ and SystemC.
- Build and integrate virtual platforms representing complete reference platforms for early software development.
- Collaborate with hardware architects and RTL designers to implement accurate behavioral models from specifications.
- Work with software teams to enable software bring-up, diagnose system-level issues, and validate platform behavior.
- Integrate multiple IP models to create scalable system-level simulations and ensure performance and correctness.
- Participate in planning and execution of development roadmaps with project managers and global teams.
Requirements
Required technical skills and team-working abilities to design, implement and maintain large-scale modeling projects.
Must-have:
- Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience in large-scale software systems.
- Experience in SoC or IP modelling using C++, SystemC, or TLM.
- Good understanding of computer architecture, microarchitecture, and SoC design concepts.
- Experience with debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git/Gerrit.
- Familiarity with RISC-based architectures and CPU instruction sets.
- Effective independent and distributed-team working skills; strong written and spoken English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Programmer’s View (PV) modelling and SystemC TLM-2.0 methodologies.
- Knowledge of Arm architecture or Arm system IP (CPU, interconnects, GIC, SMMU, etc.).
- Experience building SoC virtual platforms or full-system simulators.
- Background in low-level software, firmware, bare-metal programming, or device drivers.
- Experience supporting large multi-site software projects.
Education Requirements
