Staff Silicon Power & Performance Engineer (System Level Test & Characterization)
Role Summary
Lead system-level post-silicon power, performance and thermal characterization across Arm silicon platforms. You will own characterization campaigns, build automation and reporting infrastructure, analyze instrumentation data, and work with architecture, firmware and validation teams to identify and resolve silicon issues.

Senior — typically requires 8+ years of post-silicon characterization or validation experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver system-level characterization, automation, and analysis to validate and optimize silicon power/performance behavior:
- Plan and execute silicon PVTF characterization across multiple projects and platforms.
- Develop scalable automation frameworks, regression infrastructure, data collection flows, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Analyze leakage/static, active-idle, dynamic, and boot power to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
- Characterize voltage droop and loadline impedance.
- Enable and port industry-standard, customer, and stress workloads for characterization.
- Collaborate with SoC architecture, firmware, validation, and systems teams to debug and resolve silicon issues.
- Interpret large instrumentation and telemetry datasets to produce actionable findings.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 8+ years of post-silicon characterization or validation experience.
- Experience characterizing SoC IPs such as CPU, interconnect, DDR, PCIe, UCIe, or high-speed I/O subsystems.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, thermal chambers, power analyzers, and control/measurement devices.
- Experience with benchmarking and profiling tools (SPEC2017, LMBench, Stress-ng, Fio, iPerf, or equivalent).
- Good understanding of VRMs, PMICs, voltage rails, power delivery networks and control mechanisms.
- Experience working with firmware, bootloader, UEFI/BIOS, ACPI, or device tree flows.
- Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets from instrumentation and telemetry systems.
Nice-to-have:
- VMIN analysis experience for SoC IPs and experience closing pre- and post-silicon power/performance correlation.
- Pre-silicon modeling, simulation, emulation, or FPGA platform experience.
- Scripting in Python, Shell, Perl and programming in C/C++ for low-level system software.
- Experience in silicon bring-up, board enablement, and validation of power management features (DVFS, AVS, thermal throttling).
- Familiarity with Arm architecture and platform power/performance trade-offs.
- US B1/B2 visa is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science or engineering required; Master’s degree preferred. Relevant fields include electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related technical disciplines. Equivalent practical experience is commonly accepted.
