Staff Silicon Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior verification engineer responsible for performance verification of a multi-subsystem NBIO IP used across client, server, embedded, graphics, and semi-custom SoCs. Work within a performance verification team interfacing with IP/SoC architects, RTL designers, system verification and modeling teams.

The role focuses on performance analysis, verification planning, testbench development and driving cross-team debugging and performance case studies to inform architecture and design decisions.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 5+ years of ASIC design and verification experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical leadership and delivery of NBIO performance verification across projects.

  • Lead a small team of engineers on NBIO performance verification and execution.
  • Collaborate with performance architects, RTL designers and SoC architects to define features and verify performance.
  • Create performance test plans from hardware use cases and coordinate technical reviews.
  • Run and triage regressions; manage daily scrums, backlogs and project planning.
  • Develop and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies and automation.
  • Debug functional and performance failures, identify root causes and work with designers to resolve issues.
  • Perform performance case studies, generate results and analysis scripts, and present findings to SoC/chip leads and management.
  • Prepare detailed performance reports and present in management readouts.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • 5+ years of ASIC design verification experience focused on RTL, verification and architecture (preferred).
  • Proficient with UVM methodology and SystemVerilog; experience developing or enhancing UVM testbenches.
  • Strong debugging skills for functional and performance issues in RTL designs.
  • Experience with performance analysis and verification of protocols such as PCIe, CXL, I/O virtualization, memory management and SoC-level interactions.
  • Familiarity with Agile/scrum planning and execution.
  • Programming and scripting: C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python, Perl or Tcl.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to coordinate across distributed teams; experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
