Job Title
Staff/Senior Test Operations Engineer (Probe/WLCSP & Final Test Operations)
Role Summary
Provide Test Operations and Engineering support for products after manufacturing release. Work with internal factories and outsourced test suppliers to drive operational excellence across test sites in the region (Taiwan, China, Korea) and coordinate with global teams.
Main mission: ensure delivery, improve OEE, yield and cycle time, manage probe/WLCSP and final test transfers, and support capacity expansion and deployment of test solutions.
Experience Level
Senior. Preferably 5+ years of experience in high-volume semiconductor test manufacturing; the role expects demonstrated responsibility in Probe/WLCSP and Final Test operations.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day and project responsibilities with internal and external test manufacturing partners.
- Interface with Product Groups and cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Quality, Packaging, Foundry, PMO) across regions to support product lifecycle phases.
- Execute daily test operations: lot tracking and dispositions, test program releases, hardware troubleshooting/repairs, equipment uptime monitoring, and tester utilization/OEE tracking.
- Coordinate probe and final test transfers from NPI to high-volume manufacturing.
- Plan and execute new test capacity expansions (testers, handlers, hardware) to meet production demand.
- Deploy new tester/handler technologies and test solutions at manufacturing sites.
- Implement best practices and standard processes across test sites.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve gross margins through OEE, yield, and retest reduction.
Requirements
Required technical skills and operational experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.
Must-have:
- Experience in high-volume semiconductor test manufacturing, specifically Probe/WLCSP and Final Test operations (regional supplier coordination preferred).
- Hands-on experience with major ATE tester platforms (e.g., Teradyne UltraFLEX/Flex, Advantest 93k).
- Familiarity with test processes, equipment operations, and production planning concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills (8D, Why-Why analysis) applied to process and manufacturing issues.
- Good understanding of test methodology for analog/digital/power products, failure analysis, and reliability testing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven project management skills for capacity expansions and technology deployments.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with OSAT test operations management.
- Proficiency with WLCSP probing hardware, probers, and map merging.
- Experience with statistical data analysis tools (JMP, Spotfire, etc.).
Education Requirements
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computing, or related engineering discipline.
