Job Title
Staff/Senior IoT Engineer, Package Health - APTD
Role Summary
Design, build, deploy, and support industrial IoT (IIoT) and machine vision solutions for advanced packaging technology development and factory enablement. Deliver end-to-end systems from proof-of-concept through deployment and sustainment to improve quality, productivity, and early risk detection.
Experience Level
Senior level (Staff/Senior). Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Hands-on delivery and cross-functional integration of IIoT and machine vision solutions in lab and factory environments.
- Develop and deploy IIoT solutions end-to-end: sensing strategy, edge compute, connectivity, ingestion/storage, monitoring, and sustainment (data quality and traceability).
- Design and implement machine vision systems: hardware selection (cameras/optics/lighting), image acquisition, algorithm development, validation, and deployment readiness.
- Translate manufacturing problems into measurable signals, robust data pipelines, and actionable insights with process, equipment, automation, quality, and IT teams.
- Apply engineering best practices: requirements, design reviews, coding standards, testing, documentation, change control, and device cybersecurity considerations.
- Troubleshoot systems, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and improve reliability and observability.
- Contribute to technical planning and delivery: provide estimates, manage tasks, communicate status and risks, and support safe execution.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights appropriately to improve efficiency and quality within organizational standards.
Requirements
Core technical skills and industrial experience required; degrees and academic expectations are summarized separately below.
- Proven hands-on experience delivering IIoT, automation, or machine vision solutions in industrial environments, including system integration and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of IoT architectures: edge computing, connectivity, data ingestion, and device/data security fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with software engineering practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD, documentation).
- Machine vision hardware/software experience: camera selection, lenses, lighting, calibration, and algorithm development (OpenCV or similar).
- Data engineering fundamentals: reliable pipelines, data quality checks, traceability, monitoring/alerting, and scalable access patterns.
- Embedded/edge prototyping and integration experience (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and ability to resolve factory network/connectivity issues.
- Willingness to work in lab/factory settings and follow safety and change-control procedures.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, cross-cultural communication, and basic project execution skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with sensing strategies for manufacturing constraints (vibration, ESD/charge, IMU) and deeper cybersecurity or large-scale deployment experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
