Job Title

Staff Semiconductor Device Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and validate compact device models and simulation methodologies for advanced transistor technologies to support PDK delivery and circuit performance optimization. Work within the Compact Device Modeling Group (CDMG) to integrate modeling solutions with process and design tool flows.

Experience Level

Senior (Staff level). This role expects multiple years of industry experience in semiconductor device modeling and simulation; see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience combinations listed by Intel.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities focus on modeling, validation, and cross-team integration to enable PDK readiness and accurate circuit simulation.

  • Develop compact transistor models (FinFET, GAA/GAAFET) including layout-dependent effects and circuit impact.
  • Validate and drive readiness of simulation and modeling solutions to meet PDK milestones.
  • Perform statistical modeling, circuit simulation, and data analysis using Python and commercial simulators.
  • Implement methodologies for benchmarking circuits, self-heating modeling, and Open Model Interface (OMI) support.
  • Collaborate across technology, PDK, and design teams across locations to integrate modeling solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • Hands-on experience with compact modeling techniques for advanced nodes (e.g., FinFET, GAA).
  • Proficiency with commercial circuit simulators (e.g., HSPICE, Spectre) and extraction tools (e.g., ICCAP, MBP).
  • Python scripting for data analysis and automation.
  • Experience in statistical modeling and data-driven validation workflows.
  • Experience with RF simulation and EM simulation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in RF structure design, RF de-embedding, and EM simulation practices.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and collaborating across global teams.
  • Experience applying machine learning algorithms to compact model development.
  • Strong background in device physics and RF modeling.

Education Requirements

Degree requirements specified by the employer: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with ~6+ years' industry experience; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with ~4+ years' relevant experience; OR Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with ~2+ years' experience (preferred Ph.D. with 3+ years in some listings). "Related discipline" indicates equivalent technical degrees are acceptable; specific experience levels vary by degree.
