Job Title

Staff RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Staff RTL Design Engineer will contribute to specification, microarchitecture and RTL implementation of next-generation interconnect IP targeting mobile, automotive, networking and enterprise markets. The role sits on the Systems team and requires collaboration with performance modelling, verification, implementation and validation teams to meet functional, performance, power and area goals while considering functional safety.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting indicates 4–8 years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for one or more functional units of an interconnect product; work across design, verification and implementation to achieve functional and PPA targets.

  • Interpret high-level specifications and requirements for interconnect functional units.
  • Define micro-architecture and implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for assigned blocks.
  • Apply power-aware design methodologies and analyze early power estimates (e.g., RTL PowerPro).
  • Collaborate with verification on test plans and verification closure.
  • Analyze synthesis and timing reports; identify and remediate critical issues to meet PPA targets.

Requirements

Core technical skills and tools expected for successful delivery.

Must-have:

  • Proven RTL design experience using SystemVerilog and synthesis-driven design flows.
  • Experience with lint, CDC/RDC analysis, SVA and at least one formal tool (e.g., Jasper, VC Formal) for protocol/liveness checks.
  • Familiarity with synthesis and STA tools (Design Compiler/Genus, PrimeTime/Tempus) and timing-aware debug across simulation, emulation and silicon.
  • Effective teamwork and clear, data-driven communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Interconnect and bus architecture experience (virtual channels, arbitration, QoS, flow control, packetization, PCIe).
  • Knowledge of AMBA protocols (AMBA5 CHI, AMBA5 AXI, ACELite, AMBA5 APB).
  • Experience with low-power RTL methodologies and tools (UPF/CPF, power/clock gating, retention, DVFS).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (the posting specifies BS/MS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering). The role also expects several years of industry experience (the posting indicates 4–8 years).
