Staff RFIC Design Engineer
Analog DevicesJob Title
Staff RFIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical contributor on RFIC product developments (RF beamformers, up/down converters, mixers, detectors, switches, attenuators, filters, phase shifters, amplifiers) within an RF semiconductors team based in Istanbul. Responsible for driving design direction, resolving complex technical issues, and coordinating cross-functional efforts from design through silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 7+ years of relevant RFIC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include hands-on circuit design, technical leadership, and cross-team coordination.
- Transistor-level IC design for RF blocks and system-level behavioral/architectural design.
- Lead technical approach on ambiguous or high-impact design challenges, define tradeoffs and success criteria.
- Plan and execute design evaluation and silicon bring-up: first-silicon characterization, root-cause analysis, and corrective iterations.
- Design across multiple process and packaging technologies and contribute to design-for-manufacturability.
- Develop improved methods, models, and workflows to increase design efficiency and quality.
- Provide project and cross-functional leadership, including clear technical communication and documentation.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, guide technical growth and professional behaviors.
- Travel domestically or internationally up to approximately 10% as required for project work or collaboration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional competencies; plus items are noted.
- Strong understanding of S-parameters, transmission line theory, and RF network behavior.
- Proven ability to design, simulate, and verify circuits at transistor and behavioral levels with strong RF fundamentals.
- Experience with IC design tools such as Cadence and ADS.
- Demonstrated IC tape-out experience and familiarity with silicon debug and characterization workflows.
- Experience with RF test equipment and on-wafer / packaged device characterization (preferred).
- Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools (EMPro and/or HFSS) is a plus.
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to drive resolution on complex issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication; ability to influence across teams and present technical results clearly.
- Self-motivated, organized, able to work with ambiguity and learn new topics quickly.
Education Requirements
M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering is expected; PhD preferred. Equivalent practical experience in RFIC design may be acceptable. Field: Electrical Engineering or closely related technical disciplines.
