Job Title
Staff RFIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and transfer GaAs/SOI/SiGe/CMOS switches, LNAs and RFICs for front-end modules. Work with marketing, module and filter teams, and product engineering to define devices, support characterization, and enable production readiness.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on simulation, layout, measurement, and cross-functional integration to deliver cost-effective module solutions.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role typically requires 6+ years of relevant RFIC/switch design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define switch/LNA/RFIC specifications with marketing and module designers.
- Conceptualize, design, lay out and evaluate component and RFIC designs for transfer to production.
- Design and layout laminates to support switch/RFIC characterization and development.
- Perform and troubleshoot RF measurements (small-signal, linearity) using VNAs and spectrum analyzers.
- Collaborate with internal and external switch/LNA and filter teams to integrate RFICs into modules and advise on technical tradeoffs.
- Lead production readiness efforts: device characterization, production test-plan development, and yield optimization support.
- Work with modeling and tool vendors to improve design predictability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 6+ years of switch/RFIC design experience (switches, LNAs, RFICs).
- Hands-on experience simulating GaAs/Silicon/SiGe devices in Cadence and Agilent/Keysight ADS.
- Experience with EM/3D simulators such as HFSS and Momentum.
- Experience designing laminates to support device evaluation and characterization.
- Advanced hands-on RF measurement skills (VNA, spectrum analyzer) and measurement troubleshooting.
- Experience with front-end module integration and supporting remote engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and meet aggressive schedules.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with modules involving filters.
- Experience developing production test plans and supporting yield optimization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred. Field focus: RF design.
