Job Title

Staff RFIC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver RF/mmWave mixed-signal integrated circuits for wireless and infrastructure products. Work with system engineers to translate system requirements into IC-level specifications, perform simulation and silicon characterization, and mentor junior engineers.

Position is based in San Diego within Qorvo's RFIC design organization focused on power, RF front-ends, beamforming, and transceiver components.

Experience Level

Senior β€” approximately 10+ years of IC design experience (professional level).

Responsibilities

The role requires hands-on circuit design, verification, and silicon debug across RF/mmWave front-end and supporting blocks.

  • Design RF/mixed-signal circuits in advanced silicon processes (PA, LNA, switches, VGAs, phase shifters).
  • Translate system-level requirements into IC specifications and collaborate with system engineers.
  • Perform parasitic modeling, EM analysis, and account for package/transition effects on circuit performance.
  • Design and verify analog/digital PLLs (PFDs, charge pumps, dividers, VCOs) and low-noise power supplies/LDOs.
  • Develop and apply verification methods: behavioral, analog, RF, AMS and basic Verilog/Verilog-A.
  • Characterize silicon, debug issues on silicon, and iterate designs to achieve first-pass success.
  • Mentor and train other engineers in advanced circuit design and simulation techniques.
  • Participate in design process improvements and implementation.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required. (Education and stated years of experience are listed under Education Requirements.)

  • Proven RF/mixed-signal design experience in advanced silicon processes.
  • Deep understanding of analog, RF and mmWave design techniques, including parasitic modeling and EM analysis.
  • Experience with front-end PA, LNA and switch circuits and awareness of transition/package impacts.
  • Familiarity with RF/mmWave beamforming architectures and associated circuit blocks (phase shifters, VGAs).
  • Block-level expertise in PLLs, including PFDs, charge pumps, dividers and VCOs.
  • Experience designing low-noise LDOs and power-supply circuits.
  • Knowledge of verification methodologies: behavioral, analog, RF, AMS and Verilog/Verilog-A.
  • Experience in silicon characterization and debugging; demonstrated track record of design-for-first-pass success.
  • Ability to mentor others and drive design process improvements.

Education Requirements

Requires MSEE or PhD (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent) with approximately 10 years of IC design experience.
