Staff QA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead QA engineering for hardware‑firmware‑software solutions, focusing on functional and automated testing of ASIC/SoC and firmware-based systems. Work cross-functionally with firmware, hardware, and product teams to validate integrations, performance, and customer workflows.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 7+ years of QA engineering experience, including at least 4 years in solutions testing, functional testing, and test automation.
Responsibilities
Design and execute tests and automation to validate hardware, firmware, and software integrations; provide technical leadership and improve QA processes.
- Design comprehensive functional and automation test cases from requirements and customer workflows.
- Build and maintain test automation frameworks that interact with hardware and firmware layers.
- Perform hands-on validation of hardware‑firmware integration and benchmark performance.
- Translate domain solutions and operational workflows into executable test scenarios.
- Work with firmware, hardware, and product teams to clarify requirements and verify fixes.
- Optimize test execution and automation to reduce time‑to‑quality.
- Provide QA technical leadership, define best practices, and mentor junior QA engineers.
- Produce clear test reports and actionable quality assessments for stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and demonstrated outcomes.
- 7+ years of QA engineering experience, with 4+ years in solutions testing and automation.
- Experience developing test automation frameworks for ASIC/SoC/firmware systems.
- Strong understanding of hardware description languages and hardware/firmware design principles (Verilog, VHDL).
- Experience validating hardware‑firmware integration and firmware layer testing.
- Proficiency in one or more test automation languages: Python, C, C++, SystemVerilog, or Tcl.
- Experience with hardware test equipment and embedded debugging tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Ability to analyze customer deployment workflows and produce detailed, executable test cases.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills; experience working with customer environments.
- Proven ability to lead QA practices and mentor team members.
- Nice-to-have: experience developing AI-based automation to accelerate testing and reduce manual effort.
