Job Title

Staff Program Manager, Central Program Management (TPE)

Role Summary

The Staff Program Manager will lead program planning and execution for 5G/6G chipset programs for infrastructure base station products. This role manages schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, risks, and cross-functional alignment for digital and mixed-signal IC/chipset development from initiation through delivery.

Works within the Central PMO of Technology Planning and Edge Solutions (TPE) and coordinates across engineering, product management, and external stakeholders to commercialize silicon, systems, and software.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 5+ years of Program Management or related experience; many candidates will have 10+ years and experience interacting with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering programs and ensure execution against the plan of record.

  • Develop and maintain program plans (schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, risks).
  • Drive large cross-functional teams (baseband, RF, antenna, power) across the program lifecycle.
  • Prioritize requirements, scope projects, and manage interdependencies and schedule optimization.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to set and track Plan of Record commitments.
  • Establish execution discipline: risk management, mitigation, tracking, schedule trends, recovery actions, and executive reporting.
  • Define and track program health indicators and metrics; identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Streamline processes to integrate multiple plans, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and drive consensus across teams and customers.
  • Develop and maintain resource plans and mitigation strategies for gaps.
  • Communicate complex technical and program information clearly to multiple audiences; negotiate and align stakeholders.

Requirements

Mandatory skills and constraints for candidates; preferred items listed where noted.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of Program Management or closely related experience in engineering programs.
  • Must-have: Direct experience in semiconductor development and/or manufacturing - candidates without this will not be considered.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and manage complex technical programs.
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Must-have: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and establish program execution discipline.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with digital SoC and/or mixed-signal baseband and/or RF chip programs (multi-year experience preferred).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience working in large matrixed organizations, program management tools (dashboards, Gantt charts), and telecom/wireless industry exposure.
  • Location constraint: Office-based role in San Diego, CA; U.S.-based position not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is listed as the minimum. A Master’s or Doctorate in a relevant field is preferred; advanced degrees may substitute for up to two years of required work experience (Master’s = 1 year, Doctorate = 2 years).
