Role Summary
Lead security validation for SSD firmware across development, qualification, release, and sustaining phases. The role sits within the SSD firmware validation organization in Singapore and provides technical leadership for security test strategy, automation, and failure analysis.
This position focuses on building scalable validation frameworks, improving coverage and efficiency, and guiding cross-functional teams on secure design and threat mitigation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires over 6 years of relevant experience in SSD firmware testing, development, security validation, or related storage technologies.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing validation strategies, executing security-focused testing, and leading technical responses to security issues.
- Define and own end-to-end security validation strategies across SSD product lifecycles: development, qualification, release, and sustaining.
- Architect and maintain scalable security validation frameworks and regression infrastructure for current and next-generation SSD firmware.
- Develop and drive security test automation roadmaps and validation tools to increase coverage and efficiency.
- Lead root-cause analysis for security failures, customer escalations, qualification issues, and field escapes; drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate on secure design reviews, threat modeling, and security-focused code reviews with firmware and system architects.
- Assess and communicate security risks, validation gaps, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and leadership.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to engineers on validation methodologies, automation, and problem solving.
- Present technical findings, risks, and validation status to cross-functional and leadership teams.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights responsibly to improve validation efficiency and quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical and professional qualifications and skills for successful performance in this role.
- Over 6 years' experience in SSD firmware testing, firmware development, security validation, or related storage technologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading security validation strategies and qualification activities across multiple SSD product generations.
- Deep understanding of SSD security architecture and storage protocols such as PCIe/NVMe.
- Experience with SSD security technologies: TCG Opal, NVMe Security, SPDM, Secure Boot, hardware Root of Trust, key management, cryptography, and FIPS concepts.
- Strong background in embedded firmware systems and Python-based test automation and validation framework development.
- Expertise in security validation, threat assessment, regression test infrastructure, and root cause analysis.
- Structured problem solving, data-driven decision making, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Clear technical communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.
- Nice-to-have: industry publications, patents, standards organization participation, and applied AI literacy for tooling and automation.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
